All of the bells and whistles our industry offers while building a boat sounds great....at first thought.  About a year or two down the road is when you really begin to regret that idea! When buying a boat that you plan on keeping for many years, these are things you need to look at. Stuff like stainless steel, hydraulic hatches, even misters on a center console. These are all features that will rust, or corrode over time. However if you plan on focusing more on cruising, these options are more maintainable.

The 30ST contender is a perfect median. It's not too big, yet not too small. There's plenty of fishability as well as comfort space. It's important to remember when choosing a layout for your boat that you can add seating or remove. Removable seating grants you the ability to fish hard on saturday, and chill out on sunday.

Take the time to check Contender out. They are located in Miami and are built for the roughest of conditions the Atlantic Ocean has to offer. I love the 30" ST for exactly what the name suggests, a true contender - especially if you're looking into traveling and fishing locally! In terms of durability, this boats hard to beat.
