Sportfishing boats have their own unique style. Whether you have been around them for 2 years or 20 years you will constantly notice slight differences in designs between different builders if you look closely. It’s not by accident. There are those certain things that set them apart. Shear line, flare, tumblehome, side window shape, engine room vents, among other small details in angles and design. The delicate dance of balancing fine lines, beauty and utility. In theory, every detail in design should have a purpose.
The view through a photographers lens when they are all lined up at the dock for a tournament often make it more noticeable because you can see the moment captured in time where you can just stare at the lines. It’s a true complete work of art when you look at them next to each other in order to compare and admire the slight differences.
Is easy to see they are all different but very few people actually see the details consistent within each builder that set them apart.
Next time you see a bunch of sportfish boats lined up together take a minute to stop and look at the details. You may find yourself standing there for a while. For us it’s like standing in an art gallery, except you’re at a marina. Maybe we are just a little crazy about sportfish boats, maybe you are too.
