The type of anchor you need, really depends on where you are boating, and what is more important to you. An aluminum anchor is lighter, and a good all around choice, but you need to consider that you will need more chain to keep it down. They are also more expensive. However, we would like to consider this an investment in peace of mind, and to save on doctor bills from a bad back. A galvanized anchor is cheaper but will grab a little better in certain bottom because of its weight. Think about where you will be storing it on the boat too and what your options are for a secure location so that it doesn't damage the boat when running.
