We recommend having at least 2 round, and 2 cylindrical, so your ready for any situation, and any dock. The Megafend fenders are great for the sandbar and to have as a backup. They store easily when folded up and can be blown up just like a raft when needed so you don't have fenders everywhere when you don't always need them. This Polyform guide is a great tool. When in doubt go one size up not down. Fenders are expensive but fiberglass repair is much worse! We like 3/8 double braid lines at least 15' long for fenders. You can always cut them shorter.
